The Nishikigoi Vereniging Nederland (the Dutch Nishikigoi Association) traditionally organizes the Holland Koi Show For these days, known as the biggest koi spectacle in the world, the association organizes the annual Holland Koi Show. On the 21th, 22th and 23th of August koi enthusiasts and dealers from all over the world can exhibit their koi to a large public visiting the show.

1st Holland Aquarium Show

That Koi hobbyists have something with water and fish, is off course clear. But what does a Koi hobbyist do in winter when all outside is frozen and the Koi is resting at the bodem? Exactly, many hobbyists try to bring the water and the fish inside. As most aquariums are a bit too small for the koi but a small or big aquarium does give these hobbyists to enjoy a broad variety of other fish during these cold winter days.
The Dutch Nishikigoi Association also had noticed this practice and was surprised that with respect to the aquarium hobby, the Netherlands only has one big aquarium fair, although several small events & shows are organized. Previous visit to Hayling Island (England) showed that a koishow can be perfectly combined with an aquariumshow. This was the start! Intensive contact with persons from the aquarium hobby have led that we now proudly presend the 1st Holland Aquarium Show during the 17th Holland Koi Show.
What can you expect during this Holland Aquarium Show?
In a tent of >500 m2 an aquariumexhibition will be held. Many wellknown aquarium companies will show you their products in many different varieties and styles. If you want to get some ideas for your own aquarium, this is "the place to be"! The International Betta Forum "Bettas4all" (www.bettas4all.nl) wil organize a "small" Betta Show with ~100 Bettas also called Siamese Fighting Fish. Off course you will be able to get information and advice with respect to keeping and breeding of these fish.
But off course there is more. In this tent you will also find many more clubs and sellers with respect to the aquarium hobby. With other words, it doesn't matter if you are interested in discus or guppies, the Holland Aquarium Show has it all!

1st Holland Shrimp Show
PosterHKS2009(shrimp)-small.jpg

Almost everybody is familiar with shrimps from the shrimps on their bread or the Scampis in an Italian restaurant. That shrimps are fascinating creatures is not known to many people. About one year ago an article was published in KOI about dwars shrimp of the family Caridina. We never could have imagined that this article would have such an impact. Wholesellers who had to say no to their customers and increasing number of topics on the forums where more and more people started with a tank dedicated to shrimp. The nice thing about these shrimps is the fact that they are constantly busy in their search for food (even more than our beloved koi). It is no surprise that you are never bored with a tank full of these shrimp.
Shrimp and Koi by the way have more in common than most of you would think. The dried shrimp which are often fed to Koi are widely known but there are many more common factors! In the shrimphobby, as with koi, many different colorvarieties exist which are obtained by selective breeding. Topquality shrimp even are sold for >10000 euro. And this all for a small animal of about 2,5 cm big and a life expectation of about 2 years. That this off course extreme exceptions might be clear because the costs of the shrimp hobby are only minimal in comparison to the koi hobby. For the price of a normal koi you normally can buy a fully equiped aquarium with a nice amount of shrimp.
Because the interest in the shrimp hobby is rising and many koi hobbyists also get attached to this hobby, the Dutch Nishikigoi Association wanted to bring this hobby under the attention of the public on the Holland Koi Show. The "Garnalen en Kreeften forum", literally translated Shrimps and Lobsters forum, (www.garnalenenkreeftenforum.nl) has been a reliable partner who wanted to explore these ideas further. We therefore now proudly present the 1st Holland Koi Show. In more than 50 showaquaria several 100 shrimp will compete for the highest honor, the title of Grand Champion.
Off course it will also be possible to answer all your questions with respect to shrimps and lobsters. Please bring them a visit at the east side of Holland Koi Show in the big Aquarium tent. I can ensure you that this will open your eyes to a complete new world!

1st Holland Bonsai Show
PosterHKS2009(bonsai)-small.jpg

It is clear that Koi hobbyists have a special relation with Japan. Therefore it is not surprising that the Bonsai hobby is also very popular with many Koi hobbyists. Every year we see a huge amount of people leaving the terrain of the Holland Koi Show with a beautiful minitature tree. More and more bonsai sellers are presenting their goods at the Holland Koi Show.
Because of this reason and the fact there almost nothing is organized in our country with respect to a Bonsai show, the Dutch Nishikigoi Association therefore decided to change this.
We are proud to invite oyu all for the 1st Holland Bonsai Show which will be held during the 17th Holland Koi Show. The Holland Bonsai show will take place in a natural valley on the border of the show terrain and will have a surface area of more than 1500 m2.
Because there are people with much more knowledge on Bonsai than the organization of the Holland Koi Show, we have decided to organize this show in cooperation with Lodder Bonsai from Harmelen (NL). As they have been present at the Holland Koi Show for many years they know exactly what this event can offer. Off course the most beautiful bonsai of the Netherlands will be shown and there will be multiple options to purchase a nice bonsai yourself. This can be a small tree for starters or an older adult tree which is many decennia old. You will find it all at the 1st Holland Bonsai Show!

Hallo zusammen,

Würde mich auch freuen, wenn man sich irgendwo auf der Messe oder nach Messeschluss treffen würde. :D
